Pastel Nagomi Art Class

by Lim Lay Kee

"In Nagomi Art, each piece is usually inspired by a story or a reflection on life. The process of creating the art is often self-healing. Through my teaching, I hope to help people find their own healing through Nagomi Art."

What is Pastel Nagomi Art

Pastel Nagomi Art is a therapeutic art form founded by Mr. Hosoya Norikatsu in Japan. It is done with fingers, using unique techniques and simple tools. It is suitable for anyone, young and old, regardless of their art training background.

The art style is usually subtle and gentle; the sensation of spreading pastel powder with the fingers has a soothing, calming effect. This brings about a sense of peace and serenity while painting.

The Japan Pastel Hope Art Association (JPHAA) is the administrative organization for the training and certification of instructors in Pastel Nagomi Art. Mr. Hosoya Norikatsu is the representative of JPHAA.
